Winery Description: Lieu Dit is a winery born from the belief that great wines begin in special places. Our name — a French term meaning "named place" — reflects our philosophy that certain vineyards, over time, earn a reputation for the quality and character of the grapes they produce. In Santa Barbara County, we’ve found these places. Here, the warm California sun meets the cooling influence of the Pacific Ocean, creating the ideal climate for growing flavorful, balanced grapes with a distinct sense of place. Founded in 2011 by Justin Willett, a Santa Barbara native, Lieu Dit is dedicated to crafting lower-alcohol, food-friendly wines made from grape varieties whose roots trace back to France’s Loire Valley — Sauvignon Blanc, Chenin Blanc, Cabernet Franc, and Cabernet Sauvignon. Each wine is consciously made to be fresh, honest, and perfect for the table. At Lieu Dit, we focus on farming responsibly and intervening minimally in the cellar. Our wines are a reflection of the vineyards they come from — bright, expressive, and always rooted in place.
