This month we had 170 winery updates since April 15, 2026 and 91 wineries releasing wine this month.

My longtime friend Lenny, whom I met at Oracle in 1993 before Oracle and databases became household names, and I recently visited Neal Family Vineyards for a tasting with founder Mark Neal and his daughter Demitria. The experience began with their Spokes Organic Sparkling Wine before moving into a lineup of distinctive white wines, including Albariño and Vermentino, varieties rarely associated with Napa Valley. All of the wines are organically produced, and the tasting clearly reflected a strong sense of place. The Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon showed mountain structure and intensity, while the Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon expressed a softer and more classic valley floor profile. We also tasted a blend incorporating both vineyard sources, which brought the two styles together beautifully. Beyond the wines, the caves themselves were impressive, with handcrafted copper details throughout the winery created by Mark Neal, including the chandelier and door hardware. It was an enjoyable and memorable afternoon centered around family, craftsmanship, and wines that clearly express their vineyard origins.
