WineRelease.com's June 15, 2022 Monthly Newsletter.

This month we had 112 winery updates and 52 wineries releasing wine.

Another month with over 100 updates. That's a lot for the hot month of June.

We spent a long weekend at Chteau De La Planchette, a 12th century castle in Mignerette, two hours south of Paris.

Chteau De La Planchette.
I can check off 'staying in a castle' on my bucket list, even though it was never on my bucket list.

Wine Boxes at Le Clerc.
Went to a local Le Clerc which is like a huge Costco. I've never seen such a large selection of grocery items. There were four aisle of box wine. My first wine closure survey in August 2009 I ask "What is your opinion of the following closures for a wine that is NOT recommended to be aged before drinking" and besides options Screw Cap, Synthetic Cork, Natural Cork I also included "Bag-in-box" and few subscribers questioned why I would include 'bag-in-box' as a serious option.

Wine Boxes at Le Clerc.
I first discovered boxed wine when my family was visiting our French family in Brianon, France in the 80's. Supposedly the Australians were the first to popularize the BIB (bag-in-box) phenomenon in the 1960s. Unlike the cheap boxes of Franzia swill in the US, box wine in France is actually good. The advantage is you drink a glass worth of wine and the cryovac bag just gets smaller and doesn't allow air exposure therefore your wine stays fresh and unoxidized. I have a 5-liter of white in my refrigerator and a 5-liter box of red in my cabinet.

2015 Clos Graneveuve Bordeaux
The wine area had a ton of wines including large formats. I considered buying it but I need a big party to open it up.

Mia and me
We got dressed up one night (all it takes is a white shirt and bow tie) and my daughter loved it. That night we cooked an excellent rib roast and paired it with a few Bordeaux reds.

And now, onto the wine releases...
