WineRelease.com's July 15, 2015 Monthly Newsletter.

Greetings from WineRelease.com, now 2,099 winery listings strong.

We had a full house again this 4th of July, with two families staying with us in St. Helena. On the 3rd, the guys watched the kids in the morning while the girls got a mani/pedi. In the afternoon, the girls took the kids to the Calistoga pool and we went to Flora Springs and tasted through their wines while enjoying their air conditioned salon (it was a hot one that day). We then had a tour and sit down tasting at Corison Winery and enjoyed their 2002, 2009 and 2011 Cabernet Sauvignons. We then went to WM Harrison winery to finish the day.

That night, as has become our 'tradition', we got a few babysitters one night and hit one of St. Helena's great restaurants, Archetype. We started with cocktails at La Condesa (my wife swears by the Prickly Pear Margarita) and a salsa sampler platter, then our crew of eight walked down the street to spend the rest of the night at Archetype.

The next day found our entire crew at Calistogas 4th of July parade, followed by naps at home. Pascal and Melanie Levensohn of Levensohn winery and their lovely daughter, Aurelia, joined us for dinner at the house, where we opened a magnum of 2002 Failla Syrah brought by Pascal and I pulled out a 2002 Domaine Fougeray de Beaclair "Les Damodes" Vosne-Romane, 2002 Sanford Pinot Noir and Jerry brought a 1974 Robert Mondavi Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon and we paired them with our typical American meal of grilled steaks, corn on the cob, and a green salad, with vegetables from the garden.

On Sunday, we did lunch at the The Culinary Institute of America at Greystone, enjoying some really nice views, cocktails, wines and their fabulous seasonal menu. The six kids managed to devour eight pizzas, straight from the wood fired oven. It was a great way to end a fun weekend.

Housekeeping note: I am going to re-survey the Napa Valley, Sonoma Valley and Paso Robles wine region "Reader's Choice" surveys that were done in 1996. Over the next few months I will be sending out requests for your opinions. Please reply.

And now, onto the wines...
