Greetings. WineRelease.com is now 393 wineries strong!

I spent the last three weeks in Italy and France with my family and had a great time. We drank some very good wine at rock bottom prices. The strong dollar, added to wines that are already reasonably priced, allowed us to find bargains such as a bottle of 1998 Chateau La Nerthe in a restaurant in Paris for $30 as well as a 5 liter box of Syrah in a wine shop for $12 (and it was good syrah).

August's recommended mailing lists:

Chateau Montelena
Robert Parker sums it up best "There is always something reassuring about visiting Chateau Montelena. Over the past two decades, winemaker/owner Bo Barrett and his father, Jim, have never wavered from their goals of producing some of California's finest, longest-lived Cabernet Sauvignon." (Dec 2000). Chateau Montelena is one of the few domestic wineries that offer futures.

Pahlmeyer
Parker writes "In 1997 I was 'blown away' by Pahlmeyer's 1995s and 1996s, but after retasting the 1996s and seeing the 1997s, I must say that Jason Pahlmeyer is on fire, thanks primarily to terrific grape sources and the winemaking genius of Helen Turley."
